London Cup returns!
Friday 01 October 2021
AASA hosted Bishop Thomas Grant School in the first round of the London Cup yesterday. It was our first match of the season. All 14 players that were part of the squad played fantastic. After a very nervous/slow start to the game. AASA conceded within the first two minutes. As the half went on, AASA grew into the game and picked up the pace. They began to knock the ball around, creating a lot of chance. However, the outstanding goalkeeping from Bishop Thomas Grant would continue to deny them a goal. In the final moments of the first half, AASA equalise with an excellent passage of play and a fantastic right foot strike past the keeper by Richard. The first half ended level. AASA were given an inspiring team talk during the break with some tactical changes. However, the second half played out very similar to the first, going a goal down in the early stages. During the stoppage period of the second half, Aaron showed his quality by beating two players before winning a penalty. He made it two all, forcing the game into extra time and then penalties due to lack of goals in this period. As Noe missed his penalty kick, Olgierd (goalkeeper) was determined, therefore saving one of the penalties. The game ended 4-3 on penalties!!!
Man of the Match goes to Olgierd
A great start to the season. Thank you all for your support.
