Home-Academy Agreement

The expectations for staff

To create a positive and successful learning environment we will:

  • Teach stimulating and suitably challenging lessons
  • Mark work regularly
  • Set and give feedback on homework
  • Encourage your child to give their best effort in everything they do
  • Provide support if your child falls behind

To build positive relationships with our scholars we will:

  • Get to know each scholar as an individual and celebrate their successes
  • Foster their talents through rewards and praise
  • Provide opportunities for your child to develop their talents further through extra-curricular activities
  • Display examples of best work

To build positive relationships with our parents we will:

  • Communicate with you on a regular basis; keeping you well informed about general academy matters and more specifically about the academic progress of your child.
  • Invite, listen and respond to your views as quickly and effectively as possible, providing an open and welcoming culture for parents and scholars within which we can work together to achieve success
  • You will be informed of any detention that will last longer than 20 minutes.

The expectaTions for parents

To help prepare your child for the day by:

  • Ensuring your child attends school every day and on time
  • Ensuring your child is wearing the correct uniform and bringing the correct equipment as loud out in the Uniform Policy
  • Supporting the academy’s policies, especially on uniform, equipment, jewellery, nail and hair presentation, attendance and behaviour

To help your child in their learning by:

  • Making sure that time is not taken out of school unless it is urgent
  • Ensuring that your child attends academic intervention
  • Encouraging your child to participate in the extra-curricular opportunities offered by the school
  • Providing your child with a space and time to work at home and monitoring that all homework is completed on time

To keep in touch with us by:

  • Ensuring all contact details are ALWAYS up to date
  • Attending parents’ evenings and meetings
  • Remaining in close contact with the academy and letting us know of any issues or problems that may arise
  • Asking for help or support when necessary
  • Reading all communications from the academy and responding accordingly

To ensure your child makes the most of their time at Ark All Saints by:

  • Resolving difficulties and disputes in a calm and courteous manner
  • Supporting any detention given out on the same day for 20 minutes in length for inappropriate behaviour without need for notification, trusting that the academy is working to support your child’s learning
  • Attending Saturday detentions if given
  • Encouraging your child to attend school assemblies, religious education and church services
  • Giving permission for your child to attend academy trips

The expecTations for scholars

To be prepared for the day by:

  • Being organised for work and properly equipped (see equipment list)
  • Completing all set homework
  • Wearing the correct academy uniform
  • Not wearing any jewellery except for a watch
  • Only girls wearing one small plain stud in each ear lobe of silver or gold
  • Wearing hair neat and natural. Free from cut-ins, dyes, coloured extensions or hair ornaments
  • Not wearing any make-up, false nails or nail varnish

To treat others with respect by:

  • Being respectful and responsible in attitude and behaviour
  • Working as a team to resolve difficulties and asking for help and advice
  • Showing care and concern for our community which is both in and outside the academy walls
  • Being aware that by wearing our uniform you are representing Ark All Saints Academy
  • Being mindful of others. All members of our community should feel safe and secure
  • Never placing anyone at risk through your behaviour or actions

To make the most of my time at Ark All Saints by:

  • Attending school every day, every lesson and on time
  • Listening and learning
  • Understanding that we need to learn from our mistakes
  • Participating in extra curricula and additional activities enthusiastically
